New shows include Mayday, Head Case, Skins, and Boys over Flowers anchor over 240 hours of new content
Zurich – May 21, 2013 – Viewster (www.viewster.com), a leading service for Video on Demand, today announced that it has partnered with Starz Digital Media, Shine Group, ALL3MEDIA and KBS Media to license new series, pitched especially at the VOD platform’s growing young audience in key markets. In sum, this content package represents 240 total hours of new programming, including acclaimed British drama Mayday that originally premiered on BBC and coming-of-age series Skins (exclusive for Germany and Australia); popular Korean teen series Boys Over Flowers; and cult American programs for outside the US from Starz like Head Case, Gravity and Hollywood Residential (for the UK and Australia). The primary markets that will be able to access this content via Viewster.com soon are the United States (ALL3MEDIA, KBS Media), the United Kingdom (ALL3MEDIA, Starz Digital Media), Germany (ALL3MEDIA) and Australia (ALL3MEDIA, Starz Digital Group, Shine Group).
“We are making a significant new investment in content that we can provide on an ad-supported basis and that is also attractive to our young and growing audience across the globe that prefers on-demand over appointment viewing,” said Kai Henniges, Viewster CEO.
In more detail, the offerings from each of these content providers include:
Starz Digital Media: Head Case (comedienne Alexandra Wentworth, Andy Dick, Jeff Goldblum), Gravity (actor-director Eric Schaeffer, Ving Rhames) and Hollywood Residential (Adam Paul, Rachael Harris).
Shine Group: Mayday, starring Lesley Manville (Law & Order UK, The Queen), Aidan Gillen (Game Of Thrones, The Dark Knight Rises), Peter Firth (Spooks, Hunt For Red October), Sophie Okonedo (Criminal Justice, The Slap); Moving Wallpaper, starring Ben Miller, Elizabeth Berrington, Raquel Cassidy.
ALL3MEDIA: From one of the U.K.’s top production and distribution companies for independent content, highlights include the E4’s popular Skins, Channel 4’s award-winning Fresh Meat (from the creators of Peep Show), and E4’s award-winning dramedy Beaver Falls. The titles available will be available exclusively on Viewster for the German speaking countries, Australia, and France.
KBS Media: A major Korean producer and a company of KBS, the leading Korean public service broadcaster through which Viewster is able to bring Korean sensation Boys Over Flowers and other popular dramatic programming to a dedicated audience in the U.S.
“As an international broadcast content programmer, our approach to each regional audience is different,” Henniges added. “In the United States, we follow a multi-niche approach with in-demand series from Europe, Asia and other regions. Our U.K audience receives an ever-increasing library of national and international top titles. In Australia and the German-speaking countries, we strongly count on U.S. and U.K. titles that cannot be easily found otherwise, and in some cases, are even exclusive to Viewster.”
